Senior Planning Engineer

About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join our dynamic Project Management team in Cairo. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful planning, scheduling, and execution of large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and contractors, to deliver projects on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive project schedules using advanced planning tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Monitor project progress against baseline schedules and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Analyze critical paths, resource allocation, and potential delays to identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure alignment of schedules with project objectives.
• Prepare detailed progress reports, including earned value analysis and performance metrics, for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with the Egyptian Code and other relevant regulatory standards in all planning activities.
• Facilitate schedule review meetings to address variances and implement corrective actions.
• Support tendering processes by preparing preliminary schedules and resource plans for bid submissions.
• Implement best practices in planning and scheduling to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
• Train junior planning staff and provide mentorship to build team capabilities.
• Collaborate with the cost control team to integrate schedules with project budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all planning activities and ensure data integrity.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other scheduling tools.
• Strong knowledge of earned value management (EVM) and critical path analysis.
• Familiarity with the Egyptian Code and relevant regulatory standards.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
• Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.
• Experience with mega-projects or government-led infrastructure initiatives.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and processes.
• Familiarity with green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.

Working Conditions

• This is an office-based role located in Cairo, with occasional site visits as required.
• Standard working hours apply, with flexibility to meet project deadlines.
• Travel to project sites within Egypt may be required.
• Compliance with all safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during site visits.
