About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking experienced QS - Mechanical Engineers to join our dynamic Construction team in Riyadh. This role is integral to the successful delivery of our large-scale infrastructure and building projects, which include commercial complexes, industrial facilities, and government mega-projects. As a QS - Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of mechanical systems within our projects, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with Saudi regulations.

You will work closely with project managers, design teams, and contractors to prepare accurate cost estimates, monitor budgets, and manage variations. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and addressing variances.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQ) for mechanical works.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and ARAMCO standards.
  • Analyze and manage project variations, claims, and change orders related to mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with design and engineering teams to validate mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudization (Nitaqat) program and GOSI requirements in all contractual agreements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to project stakeholders, providing insights into cost performance and forecasts.
  • Support procurement activities, including material selection and vendor evaluation, in line with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with safety teams to ensure adherence to OSHA, NEBOSH, and ISO 45001 standards in mechanical works.
  • Utilize advanced tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Primavera P6 for cost analysis and project scheduling.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in mechanical engineering and quantity surveying.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity surveying for mechanical systems within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Primavera P6.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and relevant mechanical engineering standards.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
  • Familiarity with GOSI and Saudization (Nitaqat) compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or PMP (Project Management Professional).
  • Experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 giga-projects or similar large-scale initiatives.
  • Knowledge of green building standards such as LEED, Estidama, or Mostadam.
  • Expertise in advanced cost management software like CostX or Candy CCS.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Riyadh, with occasional travel to project sites across the Kingdom.
  • Work environment includes both office settings and construction sites.
  • Required to wear PPE and adhere to strict safety protocols on-site.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions typical of Saudi Arabia’s climate.
