About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking a Procurement - Senior Material Engineer to join our dynamic Procurement team in Riyadh. As a key player in our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the selection, sourcing, and procurement of high-quality materials that meet the technical and regulatory requirements of our diverse portfolio of projects. From commercial buildings and industrial facilities to giga-projects like NEOM and Diriyah Gate, your expertise will directly contribute to the success of some of Saudi Arabia’s most transformative initiatives.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, design teams, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement while maintaining strict compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), ARAMCO standards, and sustainability benchmarks like LEED and Mostadam. Your day-to-day activities will include material evaluation, supplier negotiations, and ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evaluation and selection of construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, Saudi Building Code (SBC), and client requirements.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project budgets, timelines, and sustainability goals.
- Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials to construction sites.
- Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and contractual obligations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Saudization (Nitaqat), GOSI, and ARAMCO standards where applicable.
- Prepare technical reports, material submittals, and documentation for client and regulatory approvals.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to resolve material-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support the adoption of digital tools and platforms for procurement and material tracking, such as SAP and Primavera P6.
- Advise on innovative and sustainable material solutions that align with green building standards like LEED, Estidama, and Mostadam.
- Train junior procurement staff and provide technical guidance to enhance team capabilities.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of approved suppliers and materials for future projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in material engineering or procurement within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Proven expertise in Saudi Building Code (SBC), ARAMCO standards, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in procurement and project management tools such as SAP, Primavera P6, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Strong knowledge of LEED, Mostadam, or other sustainability frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations and contract management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Construction Management or Materials Science.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
- Experience working on giga-projects or government mega-projects in the GCC region.
- Familiarity with digital construction practices, including Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Knowledge of advanced material technologies and innovations.
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time, office-based role located in Riyadh, with occasional travel to project sites across Saudi Arabia.
- Work may involve exposure to construction site environments, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Standard working hours apply, with flexibility required to meet project deadlines.
